Anyone see this? 2008 Ram 1500, passenger side window sweep has decomposed to a black tar that smears on the window. Guessing a new one is in order.

Not personally but I just read a post about this where the new sweeps didn't clamp to the doors correctly. They were aftermarket.

It seems to me, that rubber sitting in the sun always hardens & cracks

I worked for a Chevron Station that did full service oil changes
After a customers vehicle was serviced, we sprayed every rubber part that could be found on the under carriage.
Then i would drive the vehicle up the street to a Full service car wash. That place would do what we would be charged $60 - 80 dollars for today.

Whatever that rubber spray was, it keep the rubber like new
Most rubber sprays that are sold today, break down the rubber & leave streaks if you even touch it

Now when i go to the car wash around the corner, they put something on the tires, even if you don't ask for it

That stuff flings strings of a black paste on the fenders, doors, mirrors, etc.
