Does anybody know for sure if, back in "99" Dodge glued their window vent shades to the outside of the door, just above the window or glued them up inside the window channel on their Rams?. I Just bought a genuine vent visor, off the computer, to replace mine that just came off after 27 yrs. They sent me one that goes up in the window channel, doesn't match my OEM on the passenger side at all. Mine were glued to the outside of the door, just above the window, passenger side is still on there. I know, as I ordered the truck new back in "99" and picked it up at the dealer... Guy I bought from says his is OEM, I've got to question him as mine came OEM with them glued to the outside of the door, just above the window. I wouldn't think the dealer glued them on there after the truck got to him, but can't be sure he didn't... Is there a way to find out for sure what was OEM from Dodge?

There are two different types of side window vent visors:
1) in-channel
AND
2) applied on the door via 2-way tape right above the side windows

I for one prefer the in-channel type as they are esthetically more appealing, and if one is using the in-channel WeatherTech brand, they follow the entire channel down to the lower sill on the fronts which provide more coverage, and IMPO, look better.

However, this all said, I am not certain if the 99' Ram has any in-channel variants available for it.
You'd have to check with various manufacturers (AVS, WeatherTech, Enthuze, MOPAR OEM, etc.)

Yes, I've just found AVS has one (#92352) that looks and mounts outside above the window like the ones that came on my Ram, back in "99". hopefully it will reasonably match the existing one on the passenger side of my Ram... Guy I bought this one from, the other day, is say'in the in-channel he sold me is what came on the "99" Rams... I think he's wrong but noway toprove it.

Your original vest shades may have been dealer added unless you have the window sticker showing where the were applied at the factory.

I think the vent shades on my '94 came with the truck, but dont know 100%. They are glue/tape on style. The drivers side has been cracked a long time, and finally broke in pieces last week.

Yep, but would have thought if dealer installed them they would have installed the OEM Dodge part. Probably no way to find out for sure what they used back then, can't be sure Dodge couldn't have used both kinds in "99".... No biggie, just 2 folks trying to prove they are the one that is right... Hoping the one from AVS looks pretty similar to what I've got, the in-channel one looks waaaay different

Got the new AVS outside mount (#92352) vent visors today, they had "ORIGINAL" printed across the front of the package & I was very happily surprised how well they match the one still on my Ram passenger side that's been there since 1999. Biggest difference they have a subtle AVS logo made in them... Also got refund from the in-channel ones I bought from ebay, that were advertised as "GENUINE". Now thinking could be a "Genuine" Ram part but not "Original" to my 1999 Laramie... Anyways all good, back like it's supposed to be.
