Being this is the first truck I am working on customizing, I'm curious to know what a body lift will get you into. How hard is it to lift a body? Is this something that can be done with decent mechanic skills? What kind of other things have to be replaced, adjusted, etc? I never really thought about it until I bought my Ram.

I have a 3inch Performance Accessories BL sitting at home waiting to be installed. there are alot of members on here with them already, someone will chime in with how long to get it installed. im banking on it taking 6-8 hours with my brother (licensed mechanic whos done quite a few of these, just not on 4th gen rams)

Kits come with everything need, steering extensions etc. just install and watch her grow!!

Body lifts are not hard to install. But, they are time consuming, tedious work. There are just a lot of small things that have to be done. I think you can go to Performance Accessories website and download the installation instructions.

As mentioned on performance accessories site you can download a manual. Not much needs to be done just time consuming work that's all. Mine took about 6-7 hours to do but was fast and easy. Air tools help a lot on the body bolts. Other than that pretty straight forward just a little drilling and grinding and watching wires and cables as you lift the body. Oh an set of hands helps. I lifted the bed by hand on each side it was faster and easier than using a jack.

Just watched a video yesterday and I believe it was 3". The guy had to cut and grind the bumper. Another alarming thing was the hollow bed spacers. Being aluminum, I would think they couldn't handle much weight in the bed before they started to compress. I don't know that I would do a body lift, I'm trying to weight my options. I do think I'm leaning towards lifting this truck now though.

All of the bed spacers that I have seen with PA body lifts were steel. PA does a lot of R&D work so all of the small issues are addressed. You won't lose any weight carrying capacity in your bed with a body lift.

Love my body lift. Took about 8 hours and a case of beers.

I too have the PA 3" body lift in addition to a 2.5" HBS leveling kit. I installed the leveling kit myself, but left the body lift to the pros! I paid a shop $500 for the install, small price to pay imo if your not quite sure what your doing. I for one didnt want to ruin a brand new truck, as I dont have the best of luck lol. I love the look, and I still have a factory feeling ride!

I would just do it yourself. I had never done one nor much work on my truck and it is very manageable. Just take your time save the money of having it done and spend it on more mods.
