Just got done installing the borla. Followed the write up from Rysram. For me, the sound is perfect, i would say just a little louder than stock but nice and deep. For a total of $220 its great setup. Only thing i would do different is buy a 304 stainless pipe and find a shop to flare one end to 3" ID. I could only find 409 that was already flared. Found the pipe online at advance auto parts. Sold the Carven progressive for 250 so i got most of my money back. 20190110_102908.jpg

I know you're gonna love it!
I did the exact same thing and am quite pleased with the results, it will get a little louder in the next few weeks, or if you put a set of 5" Carven tips on it. I only notice an extremely slight drone when MDS kicks in but a quick downshift cures that instantly and never again.
The only PITA was getting the stock oil drum off.
Would have been easier if I had help.

How do you like the sound compared to the Carven? Sometimes I think about going with something quieter then my Carven. Startup in church parking lot on Sundays is one of the reasons. Lol!

My opinion, its a night and day difference. Carven is loud, mean and raw. The borla is low and deep but mellow. Its been awhile since i drove with the stock muffler, but it really doesnt seem much louder off memory. I actually thought it would be louder than it is. But no more annoying highway drone!

Ok cool I might eventually look into it. I love the Carven just sometimes wish it was quieter. I don’t have the issue with drone because I always have the MDS turned off.

I would be fine with a little louder once it breaks in. I always turn off mds. I do really want 5" tips but just cant see payin 200 for tips, ill keep my eye on the for sale section.

Since it's a straight through packed muffler it will break in..., A little louder yes, but it will stay the mellow you like. I had my stock tips powder coated originally but they started to pit. I got a set of Carven tips from Nick on a Black Friday sale and they did make it deeper, but still mellow. Either way... it's not a neighbor hater. (4th of July is comming!)

i was all about carven until i heard borla. my plan was to go the proxs muffler route as well. i just happened to buy a 14 sport with a borla catback on it. i love how it sounds. not sure which muffler is on it, it just says borla. im shocked borla doesnt get more love with these 5.7s

Brother in law has ProXS I bought him years ago for his Ram. He got it in 2012 or 2013 and at that time when I listened this was the muffler I liked best. When I got my ram I was stumped as I liked the pro xS but didn’t want the same set up. We see each other once a week at least. So initially I had decided to go with a borla XR1. But when I saw bolt in cuts for muffler swaps I was intrigued and decided that route was what I wanted. I’m couldn’t be happier with my Carven. However I know it’s not everyone. I’d have no problem endorsing the ProXs as it does sound really good. I just wanted a little more and got it.

Great muffler with a great sound. I had one on my truck and really liked it. I thought I wanted something louder, but turns out I don't like living with loud all the time. I would have gone back to the Pro XS but wanted to try a Solo Performance muffler so that's what I have now. Similar sound to the Borla, but a little quieter. I have the Mach 44 muffler.

Been 2 weeks since the install and it sounds great. I tried taking a soundclip on a cold start but can figure out how to strip the video, file is too big to upload here. One thing i have an issue with if anyone is going to do this mod. I think i have to possibly trim down flared end of the extension pipe, when the trucks mid pipe bottoms out in the flared end, it doesnt really leave enough room for the lap joint clamp to get a good bite. There is a factory welded hanger there that interferes with the seal. Im thinking if i trim a half inch off itll give it something to seal to. I don't smell exhaust fumes or anything, i just got time to pull it into a heated garage at work, used liquid leak detector (snoop) and its sucking it into the muffler and blew out the exhaust tips. Wasnt expecting that. Would have thought i would see pressure, but i guess with the exhaust flow its pulling it in. Just a heads up. When i get time to trim it, ill repost if it works out.
