Where did you get the master cylinder from.I wouldn't be surprised if you used an after market / cheap master cylinder,if the switch it comes with, isn't playing nice with your truck.

Yea, these days, if he got it on Amazon or eBay, the bad switch is probably the least of his worries.

I'd rank brake parts right up there alongside parachutes and heart valve replacements, as things I would NOT buy on Amazon.

I bought the master cylinder at Napa auto parts. Is there any way to check and make sure it is good? I tried using the multimeter and when I touched the probes to the plugs, there was no reading.

Yes, that is the part of the master cylinder that I am talking about that I checked with the multimeter. It came attached to the master cylinder when I got it.

Yes, you can test it.

But, you are still leaving out some pertinent info. Do you know how to use a multimeter?

A multimeter has lots of settings, and in order for it to be useful you need to know what those settings are and what they do.

Earlier, you said "Gage", so I'm assuming your multimeter looks something like this?

The settings you will need are:
1. On the left, where it says OHM, Rx1
And
2. On the bottom, where it says DCV, 50V

Is that what you did earlier?

First,

Switch your truck ON, then set the multimeter to DCv, 50v and follow the instructions in post 18, the 3rd paragraph.

To clarify, this is the TRUCK connector, not the sensor, were testing here.

2nd

To test the sensor/switch

Get a pump, and pump the fluid out of the master cylinder. Get as much out as you can. The fluid level needs to be BELOW the switch.

Set the multimeter to OHM Rx1, then go back to post#14 and follow the instructions in paragraph # 2

A turkey baster works well for this , you don’t need to tell the wife ,just get a replacement before she catches on.

The forum needs to allow at least two emojis at the same time. I couldn't decide between the laughy face one and the heart eyes one.

I'm ordering a turkey baster on Amazon for my shop right now!

That’s awesome! Did you get the guard dog at the same time? I would think you don’t worry about anyone hooking up to it & driving away.

He's pretty diligent about security. While the smokers cooking anyway. Other times, not so much. But security isn't free. There's a tax!

You can see the tax man hidden in the background, waiting for his cut!

Steel was noticably cheaper back then :Big Laugh: That's a hell'va BBQ,do you competitions or is this just for personal use Ken:waytogo:

Yea, but even back then it wasn't cheap. About $6k in 1/4" thick 4' x 8' steel sheets, axles, springs, wheels and tires.

No competitions. Not yet anyway. Not enough time due to my job. But I retire next year, so perhaps then.

After design it in CAD to have the CG at a specific location, so it would be safe to tow, it's always nice when the actual first towing test matches expectations. It ended up at 3000 lbs

I built it in April 2019

First time doing a cook that actually utilized the space was when I loaned it to relatives, in 2021.

I towed it from WA state to Oklahoma and put it in storage back in 2021. It was a pleasure to tow with the wife's Durango, even over all the mountain ranges between here and there.
