Got a serious one here gents. This is my son's 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. 290k miles, but replaced engine and transmission about 30k miles ago. Previously had a brake pedal that would slowly sink to the floor when brakes were applied. Replaced the master cylinder (was the original one) and didn't fix the problem. Plugged the inlet and outlet to the master cylinder and pedal was rock hard, which eliminated the problem being between the pedal and the master cylinder. Bought an ABS module from a salvage yard and that seemed to fix the pedal bleeding down.
1-2 months down the road the pedal starts intermittently going straight to the floor. Not frequently, and there's no rhyme or reason for when it does it. After it goes to the floor, I can immediately release it and then the pedal is rock hard again.
Could this be the ABS module bypassing somehow? This only has the 2-wheel (RWAL) anti-lock system, so how could the ABS module interfere with the front wheel brakes as well? Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated!!
