Brake Controller

Hi going to order the Brake Controller for my 2019 1500 Classic...the instructions and videos show mounting with a pretty beefy bracket...looks like skinned knuckles and cramps...does it have to be mounted to that bracket? Can it be located somewhere flat..two sided tape? I assume connectors can be re located..to an extent.

The bracket isn't too bad to install. You will only get two of the three screws in. What i did, which most videos show, is to run the screws through the holes on the bracket a couple of times before you put the bracket in. Then on install, I was able to start the screws for the bracket by hand, and tightened the screws from the threaded end by putting a rag over the threads and tightening them with a pair of vice grips.

I don't have a 2019... but a 2015, i mounted mine with 2 zip ties, same location, less skinned knuckles. Oh and 3 spare screws for the next job when I loose one.

I just did mine on my 2019 Classic yesterday. The 2 screws are a pain . I skipped the 3rd one as well. A 9/32" ignition wrench worked great. A ratcheting wrench would have made it much easier.

Easy enough to get 3rd screw through radio opening 1/4 inch drive universal joint 16 inch extension

Anyone use the Alfa OBD to turn the factory brake unit on? I got only P/T setting turned on. The other three CSM settings for the trailer come back with a message saying that the body computer has been modified and won’t work with these settings. Any clue guys?
