I've read several posts that seem to say that long tubes give more performance, but you lose some bottom end. I'd rather go with shorties and a decent y-tube.

Unless the primary tubes are oversized you'll pick up tons of torque with long tubes.

You're not sacrificing power down low to make power up top.

Coworker of mine bought something similar. $200 - 300, no y pipe. He welded up some pipe & has it going true duals going out the side behind the cab, dont remember if he's running cats. Personally to me, doesn't matter cause I think it sounds like garbage. A bolt on flowmaster would sound better & I hate the FM sound. To each their own, though

If I go with headers, it's to fix the broken bolt issue, not for sound. I'm in the minority I think, but the stock system sounds good to me. It could be better, but no aftermarket system sounds good when MDS kicks in so I'll stay with stock. Just another reason I figured I'd go with shorties.

I have Shortys with an otherwise stock system. It might make a little more sound than manifolds. Sounds good. Probably a little more get up and go. I'll never have an exhaust leak.
