I had an AVS Aeroskin on my 2016 1500 and it accomplished it's mission of keeping the leading edge of the hood from getting chipped by rocks, and, it's easy to clean dead bugs off. It did absolutely nothing to help the windshield because it was, well, an aeroskin meant to be low profile.

I got my 2019 2500 and I'm looking to see if anyone has a bug deflector they like. I have a 4,000+ mile road trip coming in July, so I'd like a little protection. I've read reviews that the AVS have terrible mounting hardware for the 19-20 HD's. I was contemplating the OEM unit at about $81.00 online but I want it to be functional and not an eye sore.

I'm only looking for info from anyone with the deflectors on the new generation trucks as they're different from the 4G's. Pics would be a bonus. Thanks!

I’m interested too... do they actually work for bugs because my windshield on my RAM 1500 gets plastered with bug guts:(. Thank you OP for posting this.

I'm not sure if it works or not. I had bugs hit my windshield before and after. It may cut down the amount, but not sure. So, it doesn't work 100%, but maybe a little.

I decided to go with the Mopar bug deflector. It was a bit of a pita to install properly, probably because my last was a stick on aero skin so I was expecting an effortless install.
I thought it was going to be the shiny smoked plastic, same as the AVS window vents, but it's actually the same black plastic that my grille is, so it looks much better than the smoked plastic; needless to say, I'm happy with the black. As far as if it works, it's hard to tell as the bug population and activity seems to vary so much around here. The good news is I picked it up at my local dealership because it was in stock so I didn't have to pay the stupid expensive shipping fees, same as the front mud flaps.

Looks a lot like my AVS 25614. It was an odd mounting method, bit of a pain mainly because instructions were not great but I like the fact it doesn't' touch the actual hood. Not a great pic but I like the look.

Anyone else have a Bug shield they like? I notice weathertech has a shield and a hood protector. I like the hood protector, but am wondering how much more protection a raised shield would provide.

Mine had a painted one when I bought it, but ditched it soon thereafter. I didn't care for the look.

I have the weathertech deflector. I think it helps with bugs but my primary concern was rock chips and first trip with it was CA to GA and back a week ago. Worked perfectly. Easy to install, about an hour with just basic tools.

I have a Weathertech Bug Deflector on my 2020 3500 primarily to prevent rock damage. Haven't hit any bug areas yet, that will happen next week. My neighbor has the same on his 2019 3500 and made several trips in buggy areas. He said it does help but not as good as the old "straight up" style.

Interesting is the mounting hardware package is titled AVS. So was the replacement hardware package they sent me. Weathertech and AVS may be the same

Does anyone have this stick on weathertech
Hood protector? Ultra low profile but it seems is really just held on with 3m double side tape. How long would that actually last I wonder?
saw one today on a black DT like mine and I have to admit looked good.

I have the Weathertech Bug Deflector on my 2017 2500, which developed cracks near the underside mounting points.

I have AVS II aeroskin, matte on MY 19. Works for me. Not so sure ref the "bug" issue, they serve more a purpose of deflecting rocks, but I live in TX, if a rock or wateva gonna get U, it will, LOL...

yes that seems to be the issue for me,SandaWilliams. They all seem so ugly compared to how the one I had on my 2017 looked. I really didn’t even notice a black guard ‍♂️ n a dark forest green truck. But these I am not sure about. Just literally bought a couple minutes ago an ERG no drill. Will fit and report back!

I watched some Realtruck install videos. I personally didn’t like the stick on type. I want to stop bugs if I can. That one seems more for protection. The OEM style ones stick out too far( again for my preference) but I think this ERG one will be it for me, if it is any good that is) 302951 EGR SUPERGUARD.
