For those of you with the Bushwacker Pocket Flares, what are some of your solutions to the issue of the rubber edge protector wearing down the underlying paint of the body?

Is this problem as big of an issue for people with these flares or has the internet made it a bigger issue than it really is? My flares are brand new so I don't know.

I've heard some people are using 3M PPF underneath the rubber edge trim or simply running black electrical tape under the trim.

If this is a real issue, does anyone have a easy solution?

3M clear protecting film works. I've used it on several trucks with flares and chrome wheel arches.
