Buying a used camper/topper for my single cab longbed. The topper comes from a 2500 longebed, it sure if it’s a quad cab or not. Does it make a difference?

Cab doesn't matter. I put a trifold hard top from my Gen 3 on to my Gen 4, so that works. Not sure interchangeable parts on earlier Gens. Is donor truck same generation? If so, and both same length bed, it will work.

I believe that the 1st , 2nd , & 3rd Gen Dodge Rams all had Straight Sided Beds.

The 4th & 5th Gen Rams, had curved sided beds

The tailgates for year 2009 & all the rest of the 4th Gen Dodge Rams had a water catching lip at the tailgates closed upper lip.
Beginning with the 5th Gen Rams, the upper Tailgate lip was flattened, so that it did not catch much water.

most Ram bed lengths are ;
5 foot 7 inches on Crew & Mega cabs
6 foot 4 inches on Quad & Crew cabs
8 foot , usually on Regular cabs , ( 2 door cab )

I read somewhere that the second gen beds are tapered, plan to measure it to verify. I came across a nice camper/topper for sale and supposedly it fits a 2nd gen 2500/3500 longbed
