Hey guys, I am looking at buying a 2017 2500, but it has the jump seat and the is a big deal breaker for me. The price on the truck is good enough I am considering going ahead and buying the truck and swapping the jump seat for the full console. I had a 2015 Big Horn I traded 3 years ago for a F150 and I have regretted it every day! What all is needed to do the swap on a laramie and what should i look out for?

Thanks!

I did this swap on my last Ram. It’s a lot of work but not hard. Mostly it’s expensive. I spent about $1,200 overall….bought a complete setup off eBay and still had to get brackets and dash pieces, etc. It takes the better part of a day but, again, not hard just tedious. Good luck

When doing research one of the things I saw mentioned was that the dash piece surrounding the stereo has to be replaced, is this correct?

Absolutely. I bridges the gap between the dash and the console. Otherwise there’s a huge gap.

Thanks! I had seen that on eBay and thought it would be what I needed. Is there any difference in the a/c vents or anything like that? I assume all buttons and switches you can just swap over.

Any chance you could point out what is missing that I would need from that ebay listing?

There sure could be differences in a/c vent routing. My was. Originally vent went under the seats, but I had to buy the vents that went under the console. Each truck seems to be a little different depending on whether it’s a Laramie, big horn, etc. We did my sons V6 Ram last summer and it was much different than mine.

You probably won’t know exactly what you need until you rip it all apart.

it appears a handful of guys have done this, but no one has made a "write up" on it. I'm looking into doing this swap myself on my 2012 2500.. local junk yard has a couple VERY low priced center consoles available. so we'll see what happens.. if it's a pick and pull yard, it will be even better!

I did this to my 2014 1500 Quad Cab Express. I is not too difficult. Having the right parts is the challenge. It is worth the effort.

There are two write ups on the forum about this mod. The first link is to a 2015 swap. It has a lot of great information but is quite long (452 posts). The second is to a 2016 swap.
