Going to be adding the Mopar Cab Light Kit, but I'm undecided if I want to use White or Amber Lights in them will probably try them both and decide what I like after seeing them. This is not me asking what I should do, but more just wondering what other people have done. I know it's my truck and I should do what I want, so keep those comments to yourself, because I always do my truck the way I want. Again this is just to see what others have done. Thanks for the comments in advance.

I went with smoked lenses with amber bulbs for my cab lights.

I like the amber, I almost added them to my 2016 1500 before I traded it in. I made sure that my current truck had them, I think it's odd to see an HD truck without them, but they're out there.
For what it's worth, your local laws may or may not stipulate that you can only have amber.

I used amber since my DRL's are amber but white would look good too

Federal commercial vehicle regulations call out amber or red / amber clearance lamps.

If you go with the white lights you might get more attention than you’re wanting on the highways.

In the "old" days you only could get amber lens in most cab lights, so you didn't really have an option. With the new ones you do have the option. I myself prefer the amber and used the amber bulbs that came with the Mopar kit. I see that your in WI, so the color decision might not be an option per WI State Stat. 347.17 (1), as I read it.

If you stick with the MOPAR kits keep in mind that if you start with amber you will have issues changing to white. The Amber MOPAR lights have the mounting holes on either side while the whites have mounting holes front and back . I like the amber because they they never leaked from my experience. Each mounting screw was installed at the same point of the curvature of the roof being they were on the side . The newer style white lights which I bet are made by recon have had issues with leaks , cracking lenses which I would be willing to bet are because of the front and back mounting screw location I feel can add some added stress to the whole assembly if over tightened and will eventually cause them to crack and leak, under tighten and ya get leaks making them hard to tell what is not tight enough and what is too tight. I feel this is because the mounts being front and back are on different points of the curvature of the roof and is possibly bending or adding force to the flat mounting surface of the light being mounted on a curved roof line . Keep in mind this is just my theory after reading about the leaks in the newer OE white lens experience's on this forum . Ambers, I have installed probably a half dozen sets with never an issue so I stick to Amber even if the newer model year would of came from the factory in white. I'd love black on my present truck but don't trust Recon style lights and the solar ones needs some more work before they should even be on the market for half their asking price . check their reviews on Amazon .

Well the Kit I have is a Mopar kit with clear lens and yes it has the front to back mounting holes but from what I see these are contoured to match the roof line when I lay the light on the roof where the template says the light should be positioned it lays perfect no gaps at all. Actually going from white to amber or vice versa is really not an issue it is just a matter of changing the LED pod in the light. the kit comes with amber 192 incandescent bulbs but I will be installing non-polar CAN BUS error free LED's I have both white and amber so it just a matter of which LED I put in but as I see others have stated I may be limited to amber here in Wisconsin. Oh well was a good thought for a moment anyway.

It will be an issue if you start out with the MOPAR amber lens cab lights because of the side mounting holes being their is no clear lens with side hole mounting . Start out with the white/clear with the front and rear mounting ( recon style ) holes then you have the switching lens color options. This statement only holds true because you mentioned using MOPAR brand lights . Its cool that the clear/white are contoured. seems to be a fine line between to tight causing cracks and not tight enough being my tight and your idea may not be the same . . I didn't notice you had already bought them which means I pretty much makes my posts useless in the end . Good luck and I hope ya don't get a leak :happy160:
