Hope you live in the Desert.
In Upper Midwest, those things start to rust after about a year.
Guy at work took it back to the dealership and they told they did not know he drove gravel.

WTF?

This is Iowa, 99% of the roads are gravel.

He traded it off for a RAM
Thatr sliding rear window of the Tundra is cool though.

My brother made the jump to a tundra last year after I hummed and hahed and put it in his head about trading my 2010 in on one ...he traded his 2013 ram 6spd... and got 30k from toyota for it...which over paid the truck and got a pretty well brand new crewmax trd offroad... I love them for reliability but if you like wrenching on cars constantly or doing any mods more than an exhaust headers and tune or want alot of tech it's not the truck for you... they ride phenomenal and turning radius is better than any other vehicle I've ever been in for being such a large truck. When they finally do a major update inside I'd buy in a heartbeat. Exterior it's a great looking truck but they need a definite revision to keep current...congrats non the less!

Went From ford to Ram, all have their own issues. Ford/cam phaser /9 mile timing chain. 3 warped manifolds. Ram exhaust bolts cam, lifters. GM has their's,I had paint peeling off my Chevy.Toyota frames. Nissan same. It's like Rolling roulette.
Good luck with the Toyota, you never know, might be the best truck you ever had.

I came from Ford to Ram. To be honest, I would've still bought Ford but you can't find a RCSB with a V8 (5.0 Coyote truck engine) on the lot. You can order them, but not nearly the deal I got on my 5.7 Ram that had been there for ~10 months (and they had 2 of them). I am worried about the cam/lifters issue and info is unclear to me; did they update the lifters in 2016? The manifold bolts are an issue too, but I plan to replace them every 50K or so and hopefully keep ahead of the problem.

My cousin is a sales manager at a Toyota dealership in So. Cal and I could get a killer deal on one if I wanted but I just didn't want to go that way. I like my Ram so far and it's paid for. I plan to keep up on common issues via the forum here, and how to deal with them. But, so far, no problems except for some small things all repaired on warranty.

Who knows, this truck could get a blower setup before I'm done! I do love that 5.7! I had an '05 Magnum R/T, and that experience had me look at Ram.

If I can get close enough to snap a picture, the local Toyota dealer has a bunch of frames leaning against the outside wall of the service area. Usually they are covered with tarps though.

Tundra or Tacoma? I dont think Ive read of an issue with Tundra frames, just Tacoma frames.

My 2012 had the exhaust manifold bolts break on both sides, one side under warranty the other not, but other than that I had no other problems in 300,000 miles. It was running great when I traded it in on my 2018 Lone Star Silver Edition. To assure that ANY problems were taken care of I purchased the FCA Lifetime/Unlimited Mileage Bumper to Bumper warranty. I heavily scrutinized this warranty and am glad I made the purchase. Im hoping to get a half million miles out of this one. I have owned Chevy's, Fords and Toyota's and I will stay with Ram's until I cant drive any more. I love the look and the dependablilty and the 2018 has been fantastic.

New or used, do your self a favor and check for the cam tower leak before signing on the dotted line. Other than that I had zero problems with my 2016 for the 3 year I had it before buying a Power Wagon. Tundra is SOLID. But, the interior sucks and after having the 2018 PW I wouldn't go back until Toyota does a serious interior upgrade. Needs a locker, or two, as well. Good luck.

my only complaint about the Tundra is you can't pass a gas station. They get TERRIBLE fuel economy. I thought my old Titan was bad. Tundra's are worse.

Not only do they need to update the interior and electronics they also need a new V8. The 5.7 they have is older than dirt. I might consider one if they update those items.
