Hey everyone, I am looking for any help I can get on my cam/lifter problem, The truck run great before I installed new Cam & MDS lifters delete kit, turn the truck over a few times and started it, it wouldn't idle it would only run good at 2000 rpm the oil pressure is great, take the foot of the gas and it stalls right out gave me 3 codes p0688, p2317,p0300 changed cylinder 6 coil and it only gave me one code p0301 changed coil, spark plugs, Ignition Coil Connector Pigtail on cylinder one, still give’s me a code p0301 and it does not idle shuts right town when you take the food of the gas. What could be the problem any good 5.7 engineers that can help would be appreciated.

Check and make sure all the pushrods are seated properly especially the ones on cylinder 1. What brand of cam and lifters did you use,as you could also have a dud lifter.

It sounds like something may have gone wrong during the cam and MDS delete install. Since it ran fine before and now won’t idle, I’d double check the cam timing, pushrod placement, and make sure all lifters are moving correctly. A vacuum leak or a connector left unplugged can also cause the stalling and random misfire codes. I’d start by rechecking everything that was touched during the install before chasing more ignition parts.

I use a Melling kit Johnson 2326 lifters & Melling MC-1403 cam. The truck was running great when I started. It runs good at 2000 rpm let the food of the gas and it stops massive air leek. I only get the one code p0301. I'm going to install new intake manifold gaskets and take the valve cover off and have a look. thanks for asking.
