Im am planning on doing a cam swap soon and needed help with the components I will need in order to do the swap. The truck is a daily driver and want a cam that is good for daily driven, being that I wanna change what ever is needed to get rid of the loud and annoying hemi tick, I am considering getting a comp 268. I have 178,000 miles, what other components would be good to change while at it, should it be a good time to change the timing chain, if so which brand.

Also I plan on getting the summitracing 20% underdrive pulley, what is a good belt to use when installing this pulley. What needs to be done so I wont have issues of low idling.

While at it I want to install the flex a lite 183 e-fan.

Any input help on this I would appreciate

Pushrods and springs also need to be changed out with the cam. Also a tune.

When I did my underdrive I got a gator belt that is the right length. I think I have the part number if you need it. To counteract low idle I had my tuner raise it for me a couple hundred.

There are several threads that have good detailed steps needed to do the cam swap. As for the "hemi tick" do you think it is a lifter or short push rod? there are basically two camps of opinion. What oil do you use? regular maintenance? All these can contribute. With you being a 05 you typically don't have spring failures, but with your mileage you need to change them IMO. I believe most everyone will agree you'll need 6.1 springs. 6.1 push rods with the 268 cam. Lifters, timing chain and oil pump mostly because of the mileage. Springs can be changed with the heads on, the lifters will require the heads removed. With the head off makes the valve spring change easier. Do a ton of research and when you are comfortable go for it. My 2 cents.
