I recently swapped out the stock bathtub sized muffler and welded in a Carven R Performance muffler with a y-pipe.

Will this muffler swap hurt my engine at all or is it nothing to worry about.

I had straight pipes on my old Ford and I never had an issue. Not sure about newer trucks.

I have a 2018 1500

I wanna say no. I took off the huge muffler on my 2015 hemi and replaced it with a 14” magnaflo about 30,000 miles ago and no issues so far.

Does your truck have the MDS system? You can hear mine going off and on

Just the opposite...it helps. Paired with a higher flowing filter and/or intake, better. Engines are just big air pumps. Restrictive mufflers like OEM are just that restrictive.

No You won't have any issues at all. I've been running my truck straight piped but cats still in place without any issues except noise complaints. If anything your fuel economy will go up you lost weight. [emoji1787]

You wont hurt it at all especially with the restrictive stock y-pipe and cats still in place.

Good to know, thinking about removing the resonators for more sound. Not trying to go as loud as my old cat back true duals I use to have with kids coming in the future.

Thanks to everyone who commented in!
