Canopy 3rd brake light

I’m trying to wire my brake light on my canopy 2017 Ram 2500. I found out about the factory wires near spare tire.
Found 3 wires and connected a 12 v
light ( old trailer light )to see if it would work before running / connecting my canopy wire. It worked ( light came on ) so proceeded to wire canopy light. Canopy light didn’t work. Took off canopy and hooked up to 12v battery and light works. Repeated this 3 times.
My conclusion is my lights ( both canopy and trailer )is good but for some reason the 12v power to wire near spare tire stopped producing power. ???
Checked fuses but all good.
Anybody know why this might have happened. In line fuse ? Can’t find one.

First, I just wanted to tell you that you posted in the 5th Gen seeciton and under wheels/brakes. your 2017 is a Gen 4.
Second, Is your canopy light LED. If so, try switching the wires. Your polarity might be switched. What you think is power might be ground on your canopy light.
