People have done it but went go backwards? Few things to consider:
1. ABS
2. Transmission control
3. Cluster

Very possible and ive seen several builds on it but you can do just as much with a computer with more control and flexibility. Easier to start, generally better fuel economy, more fine tuning. SCT will handle anything from stock to twin turbo 408 running e85. Just my opinion.

But if you really want carb: 4bbl m1 or edelbrock intake, distributor change, brake system, A518/727 transmission or 5sp, mechanical gauges.

This isn't all but I'm far from being an expert on carb swaps and being a young guy, have very limited experience with carbs. In fact i don't care to, i like my efi. But again, that's just me.

Slap a two barrel on there with a fuel regulator, a return line, and pull your asd relay. Then cry when the Priuses and Fiats start passing you.
In all reality to make use of any kind of carburetor on these vehicles, you're going to need a 4 bbl dual or single intake manifold with a quality 4bbl carburetor. Not really worth your time if you're not heavily modded. And if you're having trouble making the truck idle or run check out some of the threads around here with similar titles, it normally boils down to a cheap throttle body sensor replacement.

From a guy that's worked with carbs most of his life, stay efi unless u know wtf you are doing with a carb. I like carbs for many a reason but that's me and you don't see one on my truck. Btw 46rh will work with a carb so you would still have o/d. Keep the pcm in play and u can use all the stock gauges.
