Amazing quality but I'm having a fitment issue that I think could be linked to my stock midpipe which seems to be set very far towards the front of vehicle. Check out these pics. Literally my hanger brackets are bottomed out against the frame and the tailpipes still need to overlap the muffler outlets more. The whole system needs to move backwards but I do not have enough overlap w the midpipe. Curious if anyone has ever had this issue. It's like I need to cut the front clamp on the stock midpipe and try to slide the midpipe back 1-2 inches off the catted y pipe. Only until now I did I realize this potential issue. I've always had issues with my cat backs not overlapping the midpipe enough. Wondering if anyone has had to adjust their stock midpipe. The second pic is the hanger on the stock
Midpipe which you can see (hopefully) its placement is all the way forward. Thanks

I have cut hangers on pipe to slide forward more to flush tails with bumper.
You can also heat hangers on pipes with a map gas torch to bend up or down to level pipes slightly.

Thanks. Yep- I was thinking of cutting the hangers. I hate to have to make a cut on this system!

Better to long than to short........more ways than 1......LoL
Oh geez, very true! I'm torn, I'm sure this would be a quick fix if I cut the hangers. I may be opening a pandoras box trying to loosen up a 7-year old rusted midpipe.

I guess not everyone would have grinder with cutoff disk & torch.

Here's a better pic from front. I think if I cut clamp and soak in wd I can wiggle it loose with all the leverage I'll have. This literally needs to slide back 1-2 inches. 2B610959-656C-4B29-BFEC-9BC9A32F1299.jpeg

Update. I cut the clamp off and the pipe loosened right up. However, it must have such a groove in it from the stock clamp that I could not get it to slide back. It literally was loose and could turn, but I cannot get it over that groove. Maybe heat will work?

The pipe is crimped?

Yep- that's a better way to describe it. Im sure I could slice it to remove. These intermediate pipes are fairly inexpensive if I end up replacing. Honesty I should have just had a coupling welded on the muffler side to extend the pipe a few inches to set the catback further towards the back where it needs to be.

Update- installed new intermediate pipe. It's leaking like crazy on the slip joint over the y pipe. Any suggestions? Maybe the age of the y pipe is an issue. There's too much of a gap between it, and the new intermediate pipe. Thinking of trying the high heat JB weld, but what about a thin relief cut in the intermediate pipe? Maybe it willl clamp down better? This sucks. Brand new corsa setup and it sounds like open headers with this leak.

I would just take it to a muffler shop and have it cut/welded up instead of trying to Jerry rig it yourself.

Stepped band clamp for the joint. You can add shims as needed and it will fix it.

Rub some of this on the inside of the clamp then make sure to use a torque wrench. 45-50ft lbs is the sweet stop on a quality clamp.

Less torque and it leaks.

To much torque and you snap bolts and crimp pipes. Highly recommended if you don't have a torque wrench.
