Looks like channel 17 is used on North South freeways, channel 19 on East West freeways.
Where did you find this info? I drive OTR for a living and never put mine on 17, even going north or south. Always on 19, unless Im running with another one of our drivers

Yeah, 19s the standard. Never hear anyone saying "breaker one-seven" LOL

That information is probably from the same book that discusses profanity being prohibited on the CB

There's a number of good antennas - I've used a few Wilsons in the past. The key is to match the radio to the antenna.

But it was on the Internet. They can't put anything on the Internet that isn't true, right? ;)

19 is what we always run on here in illinois. i have a browning antenna with my connex, work great together. a buddy of mine has a wilson with his connex and i can talk to him a few miles away. on the other hand another guy has a cheap fiberglass antenna with a uniden and he cant get out for ****, maybe a mile and cant hear anything anymore...

Yea don't be fooled by the big 20k watt antennas. If you got a small radio thats only pushing 3w deadkey with a 20w peak, that antenna aint gonna do **** but look good. The key, as stated above, is get an antenna that matches the radio
So if you got a stock cobra 29 that wont get out with a firestik, its damn sure not gonna work any better with a coiled antenna. If your running a connex like blkdodge04, then yea a coil is your best bet
I say, for starters, get a cobra 29 with a firestik. Then once you learn a little more you can upgrade. And make sure you have a good ground. "toolbox grounds" usually don't cut it

Ohh yeaa...the rule book LOL
Doesn't the FCC have other **** to do, besides worry about what kind of equipment I run or the things I say on the radio. I believe they do LOL

Oh yeah - and 9 is the emergency channel... don't talk unless you have an emergency since we all know Smokey's always only listening to channel 9 :naughty:

Runnning one of the digital face Cobra LX LEs with center bed rail mount from, uhm...crap. It goes over the front bed rail and clamps on there. Picked up a marine antenna top loaded and it's getting me out there about 5 miles on most times. I fabbed up my own mount that bolts into the jump seat bolts and puts the face of the cb right at my finger tips. Talking to a friend about re-doing that so that it looks more professional. It will be plasma cut & powder coated.

Got my old 99 sitting in the closet from my driving days. I've had offers of $1k for it. Can't let it go, that thing melted the air when I keyed it up.

Yea browning makes a good antenna. I traded (plus some cash) predator 10k and a connex 3300hp for this. I like the echo boards of the general lee better than the connex. And I think it just sounds better in general

a buddy of mine has the connex 3300hp and i got the 3400hp, quite a difference between the two. i can blow him out of the water with mine. only thing i dont like about my setup is my mic, its a road king 56, good mic but i feel like i have to be right on top of it to get it to sound good.
