Hey, everyone. My name is Charles, and this is my first post here.
I recently acquired my first 2012 RAM 2500 Longhorn. I've had other RAMs for work use, as well as a 2011 RAM 1500 ST, but never a nice diesel RAM truck of my own. So, I was quite thrilled to find one with only 128k miles and in good condition. If you can see my profile picture, that's the truck.
Anyway, I'd heard that these center console rings (on the full center console) have been a huge pain for other people. But I shrugged it off, "No biggie, probably won't be a problem for me."
And wouldn't you know it... I was dead wrong. Within the first 3 or 4 days, I had a high sunbeam pass through the top of windshield, bounce off that ring of death, and blind me. But losing vision while driving doesn't work for the safety of myself and of the general public. So, I fixed it.
My before and after pictures are posted below, and I'd say it turned out well; the work has held up so far, with no more blinding effects at all... not even a glossy finish!
With all that said, I had to use some different products than what this other guy used [EDIT: THEY KEEP REMOVING MY LINK, BUT IT IS ON THE CUMMINS FORUM WEBSITE, YOU CAN GOOGLE THAT INFO]. I also posted pictures of those products, with a number in the order I used them.
Just FYI: The before picture is when the truck was first acquired at the dealership. The trash and other things in there belong to previous owner. Keeping my stuff taken care of is how it lasts, so I'm giving extra effort with this old workhorse. Plus... who actually likes their vehicles to look gross and smell bad?
