Just got a 2016 1500 4x4 with no service records to speak of with 140k Miles on it. Question: Should I do a trans fluid change? I know its a nightmare to do, but I am getting some people telling me not to even touch it...what do y'all think? Thanks.

Absolutely, along with engine oil, filter, brake fluid and coolant.

Start fresh, develop your baseline, that way, you know it's been done.

I'd also check to see if it has a cabin air filter and if no, give it one and change out pcv valve.

Last I'd pull a single plug and if they have not been changed, change the plugs. 100k service intervals

Maintenance is key

Yes, change the transmission fluid. There is absolutely no reason not to. Some people will get on here and claim that changing the fluid will make the transmission fail. But the "reasons" they give make absolutely no sense.

No doubt!

I’ve read elsewhere that there is some magic adhesive that holds the internals together and disturbing that is what wrecks the transmission. That’s pretty hilarious, IMHO, that folks think that still in 2025, but all that material piling up in the filter is seriously not a good thing if internals are breaking down.
