I was wondering if the truck needs to be up on jack to change front shocks or can it be done while on the ground just as easily?

I am assuming it should be lifted and probably easier to do with tire off right?

Just trying to save work if I can.

Thank you,

Steve

On a jack to relieve tension from the shocks. For safety, use jack stands in the center of the suspension

Better to be safe. Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast

Unless you want to take tire off for more room, I have never jacked up a vehicle to change shocks. Now struts are different story. But, shocks are simple 10 minute swap.

Unless they are gas charged... Then it is a PITA to do without the suspension being at full droop.

But if not gas charged, there is no real need, other than if you want the tire off to gain access.
