What does everyone use to protect chrome wheels? I am looking for a protectant more than a cleaner. I haven't found much in the cleaner department that does any good; washing with a mit and getting in the grooves seems to work better than this spray on/hose off stuff.

Check out Autogeek and Autopia. Look for Sonax wheel cleaner and Sonax wheel coating. A wheel wax also exists. For scrubbing your wheels, I recommend Speedmaster wheel brushes or wheel woolies. Each allows you to clean the face and barrel of the wheels. If you need a wheel cleaner now, check locally for Dub wheel clean made by Meguiars

Do you dry with a chamois afterwards?

I use a Toro electric leaf blower and water just flies off but yes you can use a chamios or a quality microfiber drying towel. I just prefer a leaf blower, much easier process in my opinion.
