I just installed blistering at 2.1 a few days ago. Since I have been hearing a clunk when going over potholes. Is this normal. It did not make that sound stock. Thanks

It may be the same issue we are having in another thread. Check the sway bar and make sure it is seated properly on the links. Instructions call for tightening just enough to get a bulge out of the isolators but I feel this may be where my "pop" is coming from so I may tighten it further and see what the outcome is

I think you are right flyguy. I had it aligned the other day and it drives great. Also I rechecked the ball joints, Tierods and shock bolts. I will try to loosen them up and reseat them next.

What side of the upper spring seat did you put the washer on? A number of guys have made the mistake of putting the washer on top of the upper spring seat (next to the nut) which is not correct. It needs to go on before the upper spring seat.

Brandon could you explain this a little more. A picture would be great if u could find one of what your talking about. I'm intrested now because on occasion I will get the same pop coming from the rear as well so it may be a combination of things.

I bet that's what it is. Can I take it apart without having to realign it again?

Also, Brandon's definitely right about the assembly order, but I've done it both ways and never had any noise issues. Just another datapoint. If you leave out the washer you get a little extra preload on the spring and a little more lift, which I like :)

The clunk is from front Bilsteins, not rear. So the sound you're hearing would be unrelated to this washer.

In theory everything should go back together very similarly to how it was... however I'd still get the alignment checked at least to make sure it's not out to lunch afterwards. Whatever shop you had do the alignment should do a check for either free or a very minimal charge. From there, if needed, you can proceed with a full alignment.

The washer is installed in that location because the diameter of the shock shaft and the hole in the upper spring hardware are too similar. After a certain amount of time the hole in the upper spring hardware will wear out and start moving down on the shaft which will give you issues. The clunk guys hear with the washer in the wrong place is the hardware moving around on that shaft trying to fit over it. The washer essentially increases the diameter of the top of the shaft to eliminate that issue.

You are the man Brandon! Moving the washer fixed the noise. Now it's quiet as a mouse and my wife will let me sleep in the house again.
