Currently driving 2015 outdoorsman with 6.7 l.
185k rn.
Last 2 years, rear u joints, por15 my oil pan, new mosimoto trans pan, rear brakes , yearly coolant flushes for clogging heater core, cruise switch, misimoto boost hoses, w/p, fan cluch, belt, rear brakes/ and e brake rebuild, front brakes, heater core return elbow, third brake light gasket, cabin vents, alternator, cabin filter mod, rear seat fold down mod, replaced main wire in power distribution box, front right u joint.
I have had , 1993, 2004.5, 2015 ( still driving this)
I come here to get excited about a new truck but keep reading all the recalls etc with new ones and it changes my mind.
80-100k for a new headache, not sure i can do it to myself.
I literally bought a new OBD scanner 2 weeks after purchasing my 2015 so I could keep up with codes I was getting on a new truck.
Yes these are maintenance items mostly but alot of warranty this first 100k.
I need peace of mind, the new radios scare me the most. Been reading about them all day today.
I'll keep reading and thinking but want to purchase sometime this year.
Sorry, this was more venting than anything else.
I get employee pricing for Ram and GM.
Been reading on duramax too.
I did recall 67a also. So im covered to 220k for most emissions , already had sensor 2 Nox changed under warranty. ALSO: KEEP YOUR ORIGINAL RECEIPT FOR RECALL 67A.
Its not in any data base so if you go to a different dealer they will not know its done.

Not so much the mechanics on the 25s and newer it is the electrics from the new Atlantic Architecture that is an issue. Al IMHO.

Yeah, I see all these mandates for 2027 with AI , how they can shut your vehicle down or stall you from driving.
I saw a clip, Ford already has prototype out.
Pay 75-95k for a vehicle that monitors you and decides if you can drive or not, not having that.

Also i changed my DEF pump in 2024. Forgot that.
Maybe I just delete my rig and drive it another If i can find software still. I only have rock chip rust spots on my rockers, which I can easily redo. POR15 and some paint.
Rest is perfect

There is no mandate, but you are correct in that Ford can already monitor you. Any of the self driving cars have it built in regardless of manufacturer, they want to make sure you are paying attention because self driving isn't really self driving.

I'm not getting rid of my pre-COVID vehicles and anything I buy that's newer will be for toy duty only, if it breaks it breaks.

But there is....

requiring automobiles to monitor drivers. Under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, passed in 2021, all new vehicles sold in the United States after September 2027 must include technology that monitors driver impairment and distraction. This includes systems that can detect whether a driver is sober and alert, potentially preventing the vehicle from operating if impairment is detected.

Go read the bill yourself. There is no mandate.

See: https://www.ramforum.com/threads/e-torque-an-interesting-article.223580/page-3#post-3079262 and I already put links to the actual documents on the congressional website so you can read it first hand instead of the BS that circulates online and in the media.

with all the work you have done if it drives good i would keep it. start a rainy day fund for a transmission eventually. the pcm is easy to tune for your year. i cant say the same for brand new trucks

Sounds to me like you've already made up your mind and you're looking for warm fuzzies before you go buy that new sottware defined vehicle. My opinion is keep fixing and driving that 2015 6.7L. She will give you another 200K miles and wont' cost 100K to do it.

honestly with a delete and transmission maintenance/upgrades thats as much a forever truck as one can get these days! with minimal or no tech besides abs and t/c - stability control

can program yourself with handheld tuner, parts availability for basically eternity, flat tappet lifters et cetra

in 20 some years these will be the 12v 2nd gens that are still somehow roaming the streets around here :roflsquared:
