Connection Issues

I've got the base radio. I would plug in my iPhone and it would charge and connect to play music.

I just got an S9 and plug it into the same usb port in the center console.

The phone charges but the radio says no media.

Does the radio need to be updated? What else could the issue be?

Mine does the exact thing. Not sure if someone can confirm but the radios that lack apple play or Android auto don't work with Android phones. I plug it in to charge and connect via Bluetooth to play audio.

I don't have bluetooth connectivity either.
