05 Ram SLT Hemi : Saw this hanging underneath the drivers side frame of the elect cooling fan but everything in this area appears to be connected .
Anyone know what this is for ? 20211111_105714.jpg

Looks like it might be for the ambient temp sensor. Is it near the very front of the truck? If so look for about a quarter inch diameter 3/4" long rod sticking up somewhere in clean air with the mating plug in it. It may have gone missing some time ago so it may not be there anymore.

It also looks like it may go to a connector near the fuse box.

See if it goes here and/or if your sensor is missing.

Sensor is there and connected. It was hanging free as well so not knowing where it was originally mounted I zip tied it at near the exact spot in your photo ! The connector I am asking about in my photo was hanging a bit further down .

Ha....
just posted a few minutes ago. I just bought a used 2002. I thought it was for the fog lights since I dont have them factory installed, just the louvers in the holes for the fog lights. Looked like it would fit the wire harness for it. Going out in about an hour or 2. Ill take a voltage tester and pull the fuse to verify thats what it is.

Thanks Seabee67
i just took another look around . Purge Valve / Horns etc are all connected.
Have louvers also instead of Fog lites. Knowing how Dodge thought of everything on the Ram per future add ons, am inclined to think its for Fogs as well.
Let me know what you find on yours .

thanks

Couldn't tell for sure. used 1 side is connected to ground, the other end side I'm not sure since I dont have the switch for fog lights. I would guess that it goes to the switch from the harness, then to the fuse box so I couldn't complete the circuit. But I did notice on mine that the dangling wire was spliced into the headlight jumper sheathing. If I get a chance to pull the switch and run a lead to the harness tomorrow I'll check it out and let you know. If not I'll be doing it this week at some point and take a picture of the harness on my end to see if it matches yours. My guess is that it is a lead for the fog lights. but I like to be certain.
I looked at an OEM fog light harness and it looks like a match to yours. Here is a screen shot of itScreenshot (174).png

It is retained by the lower inside headlight bolt. If they are OEM headlights that spot will have a flat spot for it to sit on. If it's an aftermarket set they don't cast the plastic correctly and the ridge at that spot has to be shaved down.
