I was wondering if it was possible to convert my 2016 SLT Ram 1500 over to the color-matched sport bumpers instead of the chrome bumpers that came on the truck. If I bought these bumpers for the front and rear, do they bolt on with the same mounting points as the current ones or will I need to make some changes to make them work? Thanks.

Rear bumper will bolt on, but front plastic bumper will need about $1,000 worth of parts. And you cant get em from a junk yard. I tried. You also will need a 2013+ grille.

Say he was to do a swap with someone who had a sport. In that case would they be able to swap bumpers and all mounting hardware at no additional cost? My understanding would be the grills would also need to be swapped as well.

If he finds someone to swap with, yes the grilles will have to be swapped as well.

Why would he have to swap the grilles?

^^^ what he asked

As far as I know, other than the Rebel, all the '13-'18 1500 grills are interchangeable. The inserts on the crosshair style grills are swappable also.

I should have been more clear with my original statement as well. 09-12 to 13+ conversion = grille swap.

If he is swapping someone or finds an entire front bumper assembly at an auto salvage yard the swap should be easy.
The one piece Sport bumper has entirely different pieces underneath from the two piece chrome bumper, that where the $1K in parts reference came from. The mounting points on the frame for both are there

I went with a new steel bumper and painted mine. It's the way cheaper option, but if you're wanting the 100% clean plastic look, it's worth going that route

You cant just buy the bumper, or plastic pieces behind the bumper from the junk yard any more. I tried. They will only sell the whole front clip. Makes no sense
