I have the 2016 Ram 1500 5.7 I am currently running on the stock AC electric fan. I was thinking of upgrading to the V6 efan or possible the 3.0EcoD efan. Does anyone know if the 3.0ED efan works. I was told the radiators on the 5.7 and the 3.0ED are the same except for the 3.0ED has a higher fin density. Anyone done this or know for sure?

Parts #(Correct me if wrong):
V8 AC Fan 55056948AI
V6 Rad Fan 52014772AF or 55056851AG (Not sure of correct one)
3.0ED Rad Fan 68217820AB

Another question can a tune control the fan to run for a bit after you shut off the truck or would you need some kind of timer?

I do not know if the ED fan works, but for over $400, I am not sure I would try it unless I can find it at a salvage yard.

Not sure about the ED fan either, but I'm not sure you can get the fan to run after the truck shuts off, I think it's on switched power. Even with a time it wouldn't run. Not sure why you'd want it to, it would just be cooling the radiator at that point, not the engine.

The EcoD fan most likely uses PWM control signal to Start/Stop and speed control. It is directly wired to the battery with about 6ga wire and fused @ 100 amps. The Gen5 trucks use the same 850 watt fan size.

Yea it is a little pricey. Could be worth it though for some.

Mostly helpful when going to the track so you can cool the fluid in the rad then start the engine for about 20 seconds to pull the cooler fluid in and then cool the hot fluid that is in the rad. That way at the line you can be back under the 180 tstat temp.

Good info. Thanks. Would you know if the EcoD fan fits? I do not mind running some electrical wire and maybe a controller circuit.

I got a pentastar 3.6 PWM fan from car-parts.com that appears to physically bolt on to the 2017 Hemi Radiator. I was able to get it with the fuse box and harness. It's a 3 wire harness which can plug in like it's factory.

There is a large diameter ground wire that goes where grounds are located near the fuse box. The large diameter red wire plugs into the fuse box. The smaller redwire (probably a trigger) has to be pinned in to the harness underneath the fuse box.

I was able to compare the donor 3.6 harness and fuse box to my Hemi harness and fuse box to figure out that is a physical bolt in. The hard part was unpinning the trigger wire from 3.6 main connector.

I haven't got into hooking it up as I'm waiting to pull the ECM off to have it shipped off and unlocked for tuning. I'm not sure if it has to be programmed to recognize the PWM or if you just physically hook it up and it works? Stay tuned...

I don't know what difference is between the PWM diesel fan or the PWM pentastar fan. I just know the diesel fan costs a lot more. From what I understand, the Pentastar actually requires more cooling than the hemi as it has the exhaust and intake reversed. Also PWM fans can be found from less than a 100 to 150 at salvage yards. I got everything for $130.

The pentastar PWM fan is popular in Jeep V8 swaps or 3.8 e- fan upgrades so it's a prized possession in the JK jeep circles.

I do have pictures to show what everything looks like, if curious..

I pull the fan relay and use a jumper wire at the track to keep the fan running with the engine off between rounds. If you buy a Tazer for it's line lock functions,it also is programmable to run the fan between rounds.

Sure I would not mind having a look.

I was supposed to be their tester for it on the trucks, but chickened out as it was new at the time, and was a bit worried about it bricking a pcm,so I sent them to Jay Greene.Apparently he likes the one he has.I have a buddy with one on his 2014 6.4 Superbee, and it has give him the odd head-ache though.I think they've got them sorted out now though.Kind of kicking my ass I didn't take them up on their offer though, lol.
