I've got 37-13.5-17 STT Pros on mine with 14k on them with no complaints. Good wear and balanced just fine. I'll be sticking with Coopers for my next set as well, 40-13.5-17 though.

What are you gonna do to clear those?

AEV High mark fender flairs, Thuren front bumper for those flairs, change out wheels for correct offset (-22mm I believe), and address moving axle forward 1" as well as possibly more lift.

Discount Tire sums it up for M/T's in cold winter weather conditions. It's the tire compound that makes a difference, but then a M/T tire isnt going to be great on snow/ice. The Cooper S/T Maxx, STT Pro, and General Grabber X3 all have a tire compound that remains flexible in cold weather conditions.

I don't get much snow here. Wet road traction is more important to me. Right now I leaning towards the Grabber X3 in a 315/70R/17. I think I'll ask the tire shop if they have a decent used 35" tire I can use as a spare.

The 315 70R17 is 34.4" in height and slightly wider than their taller 35 12.50R17. It should fit as a spare from what I've read. That's just 3/10" taller than my 285 75R17 tires which fit easily within the spare mounting location. Suggest that you try one of your new ones up there fully inflated just to check.

I've been extremely happy with my s/t maxx in the 315 70R17, wear and noise have not been an issue so far. As far as punctures and holding together they seem to handle the logging roads out here in Washington pretty decent

I am running the Cooper S/T Maxx tires too, but in the 34" Load Range E. 31,000 miles on a set of 5. All have plenty of tread depth left for snow/ice and gravel. Could easily see getting 50,000 miles on these. My only gripe is that there's no 35" on a 17" wheel that's a Load Range E.
