I have a couple questions before I lift my 02 ram 1500 4.7 v8. First off has anyone used bds suspensions before? If so are they any good? Second I want to do either a 4" suspension lift and a 2" body lift or a 6" suspenion lift. How will that affect my take off, top speed, etc. I heard it will kill my top end speed and my take off. Clarification, answers, advice?

One l last thing. Does this website have an app?

All the people I know that have a bds say they are great.
Its not the lift that will hurt your performance it is the tires. Bigger tires mean a lot more power to spin them. To counter this you will need to get bigger gears for the front and rear axle. 4.56 will be better but 4.10 will work. All depends on wjat size tire you go with. I recomend getting gears with the lift to help the 4.7 out. I also recommend getting a tuner for your speedometer. Once the bigger tires are on it will not be calibrated for the new tires and will read a different speed then what you are actually going. The tuner will also give you a slight bit more hp/tq to help.

Added rotational weight (tires and wheels) is harder on performance than load weight.

As far as an app for this site goes, I use an app called ''Tapatalk2''. It's a general forum app but only registered forums can use that app. This forum just happens to be one of them.

Thanks for the advice. So the speedo ca n not be calibrated afterwards? What size tires do you recommend for a 6" lift? And about the gears, where would be a good place to start looking?

Go with a 6" lift kit and 35's well at least thats what I run on my truck with a BDS lift kit. I love my BDS lift kit!! The quality of the lift and coating is great! the truck rides better then it did stock and better then it did when i just had a leveling kit on it with 33s. You will not have any problems with the bds kit or with installing it on your truck. I would recommend replacement of your upper and lower ball joints and wheel bearings if you have yet to do any of those. Also buy your self a set of russel stainless steel brake lines for a lifted app. You will have your entire front end of the truck apart so its the best time to do it. I currently run 4.56 gears and with my 4.7 its a great combo. I had 3.92s in the truck stock and it was not bad at all, but the 4.56s gives you great bottom end power. If you can do gears while your installing the lift you will save money on the pulling the front diff out of the truck, but gears can also be expensive. I don't think it will kill your top end speed. The best thing I can tell you is make sure you have your tires road force balenced. At high way speed you can run into problems with vibrations from the tires at that 70-75mph mark.

Have any of you had problems with towing after you lifted your trucks? I mean have you lost any towing power or speed while towing?

Your going to notice it to be slower getting up to speed from a dead stop. Its not bad, but its noticeable. What gears do you have in your truck now?

you can add leveling with the bds i believe just crank the keys if your truck has torsion bars
