I hate to bring up that I'm having this same issue because Wade has done such an awesome job with this product. This is only in the interest of customer feedback for an even better v2. :)

I too have a difficult time with the blind spot mirror unless I angle my mirrors in so much that the main mirror views too much of the side of the truck and not the road. I had a feeling this might be an issue when I read 30ish pages back that Wade preferred to have the mirrors angled in more to see his tires. I like having it where I barely see the side of the truck on the inside edge of the main mirror.

It may be my height or seat position, but I end up seeing too much black edge of the blind spot mirror and too little mirror. I also would have tried using them horizontally at the bottom, but they angle too far down.

I'm towing for the first time with them this weekend. We'll see how it goes.
Its not easy to design something that everybody will like. Unfurtunately i removed mine from the truck due to the fear of hitting someone during lane changes, with the position i like my seat and mirrors the blind spot mirrors were not helping me in anyway.

Try them as parking mirrors to see the lines. They work awesome!

Wade,

You are correct you said trailer tires.

I'm going to log some miles this weekend. It may just take some getting used to. Weather or not they work for me, you have gone above and beyond to support your product. I really appreciate it!

Wade,

Just a thought on thickness. There used to be a European set of blind spot mirrors you could buy. They used aspherical glass so they were very thin. They didn't really have an edge on the glass at all, instead it was milled so not to be sharp. When applied to the mirror they were nearly flat. They looked nearly identical to the blind spot mirrors that are built into the tow mirrors whe installed.

I realize doing that would be a complete redesign, but it's just a thought. The advantage to aspherical glass over convex is the flattest part of the mirror could be towards the inside. Aspherical mirrors curve into the convex area when looking into them. Actually in Europe car mirrors are simply made to transition and a tiny line is etched in to indicate where it starts.

Hope it helps with something to look at.

Hunter99,

Thank you for the note. I actually think I know the Blind Spot Mirrors you are talking about.

I was leaning towards a design like that, one in which the Blind Spot Mirror would simply take up one corner of the mirror. But...I kept hearing from people who wanted me to continue with how I have the current configuration, but redesign it.

I am still working on things, but when I do get a new design I will post it here to see what you think.

Thank you again, I really do appreciate the input and insight!

Well I finally got around to installing my blind spot mirrors and they work great! (Recently becoming a homeowner has put a damper on doing anything with the truck). Despite both mirrors being heated - non-dimming, they still look great even with a minor gap. I originally had small round spot mirrors on the bottom outside corners of my mirrors which I used a lot to see my rear truck tires when backing up. I think I may reinstall those mirrors on the inside bottom corners just because I am so used to having a spot mirror... I was actually thinking of relocating my blind spots to the same way SitKneelBend mounted his since there is going to be a V2 available for those of us with the non-dimming mirrors.

Still, a job well done to Wade on these!

Not a problem Wade. I still like the mirrors but was thinking that would give more of a sightline. I will happily buy another set to see if they work different for me. I keep my stock mirrors where I barely can see the side of the truck. Either way I still think you make a great product and most wouldn't bother even trying to look further into it.

Got my mirrors on as well and they do work great.. Am on the same boat of if you make them a little wider, I will purchase another pair.. I find myself using the blind spot mirror more anyway. Great product, keep up the good work. Would definitely buy the cell phone mount, but in 2016 they removed the card holder and made it a phone holder...

At the end of last week, we have the base designed for the new mirror and now it is being sent to the mirror manufacturer for them to fit the glass.

Simply due to physics and a host of other problems, I had to abandon the idea that I could actually satisfy all the requests that people made with the 1st generation mirror. The second generation mirror will be a corner mount mirror, much like the mirror they had on 3rd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks.

Once the mirror people fit the glass to it, I will then begin testing the design. It is a process...which is a slow process...but headway is being made.

Hey Wade, were you still making a taller mirror that fits the non-dimming mirrors?

X2, I think I would like the first gen mirror rather than the corner mirror, but I'll wait until you have the gen2 complete.

was driving behind a 2500 today with tow mirrors and I kept looking at his, then my non-tow. Has anyone measured to see if the tow mirror glass will fit in our non tow. I obviously could not measure since I was driving, but they look to be of similar shape and size. Just a thought...
