Cylinder deactivation

I'm curious. My scan tool showed a data monitor for cylinder deactivation. At idle it was obviously not deactivating any cylinders. I'm not curious enough to try leaving it connected while driving to see if it ever changes, but does the 3.6 actually do cylinder deactivation?
