Title says it all. I'm ready to rebuild the front end. Not sure what parts I should be buying from a D250 to support the 440. My initial thoughts are to just order shocks and springs for a 250 and everything else should be ok? Truck is currently all oringal 318 TBI. I have the 440 still mated to the 727.

I've been eyeballing this kit from PST https://p-s-t.com/i-23159287-original-performance-standard-truck-front-end-kit.html

Under the assumption my sway bar should be good, just get new bushings? I already did the upper ball joints, control arms are perfect.

First time doing a total front end rebuild, I've always just replaced what's known to be broken on my daily. This has been many years coming and I'm finally ready to start shopping.

Is there anything I'm forgetting up front? Please help me add to my shopping list. I'm in Canada so I may have less options available. Thanks for the help everyone!

Just stay away from the 4000# springs and shocks... (D350 and diesel D250) they are too long to fit the light suspension.

I would just change the few worn-out items. I'm in Canada too - I use rockauto.

definitely rockauto. did all of my front end rebuilds using mostly moog parts from rock auto. Although I heard since federal mogul bought moog, the quality is not where it used to be. Not sure if thats true or not.

It's almost all offshore product now. I buy moog's budget Quicksteer line often; the joints are at least full size and greaseable.

I won't pay for the premium for the standard moog. I'll go broke fixing my stuff.

a few years back, I bought a Moog ball joint and since there was only one in stock, a Quicksteer ball joint with essentially the same part number. when the parts arrived, they were identical right down the the rubber boot that had "moog" printed on it.

few years later, that was no longer true. the quicksteer boot on the ball joint I ordered was not great. with the price being about 25% more for the moog version, I was willing to pay more so I wouldn't have to re-do the work in short order from a bad seal/boot. How ever, I may not have the volume of repairs you do @u2slow. I only do a ball joint here or there every few years, so again, willing to pay a little extra.

I'm big on greasing. I haven't run a Quicksteer joint to the end yet. YMMV.

Moog that starts with a R is pretty much low quality chinese junk.
K is better quality.
Either way Moog is not the quality of yesteryear.

I remember way back when, Moog had a program
When an order was placed that equaled some thing like $1500
That salesman would get a ticket to a NasCar race in their region.
It was a promotional gimmick to get auto parts vendors, like wholesale houses that supplied businesses with parts & delivery service.

That was back when times were good, like 10 years ago
