Just talked to the dealer about a hose replacement on my 2013 Ram 1500 w/112K miles, was quoted $230.00 just for changing the hoses! Is that normal for two hoses? Wow!

Hoses for what exactly? You dont specify what you are having repaired or needing repaired precisely

Sorta on that topic.... I’m getting my bilsteins put on next week but my mechanic doesn’t do alignments so getting it done for $139 at ram dealer next day since I have to get my free oil change and recalls done anyway. Dealers usually not the cheapest option but should be dependable at least.

Any shop can do that. You can ask around and see how much you’ll be charged, the upper hose is $49 from Autozone, $27 for the lower. Go to a small shop that is not an automotive service chain. You can prob get it done for half of what the dealer is quoting you.

Yeah seriously, never understood why people would not only want to pay 2x as much, but also give it to a dealership instead of a local mechanic.

Make sure you get the correct coolant--many don't mix well

Take them the instructions and make sure the installer reads them. Just cause someone works at a dealership doesn't automatically mean they know WTF they are doing. It may seem like a simple task but believe me there are as many ways to screw it up as there are ways to do it right.

$100/hr + parts + new fluid + disposal fees, I'd that $230 is reasonable.

Agreed. I do my oil changes, but for the rare times the hoses need to be changed, I'd rather pay to let someone else waddle in the coolant and dispose of it, unless money is tight.

You should also do a change out on the coolant and its about 195 per hour labor and you got two hoses so their you go. Maybe time to get a little dirt under your finger nails.thats east coast prices.

WOW if your paying about $195 an hour labor my suggestion is find a new mechanic or get the hell out of New York.
