make sure your deck is compatilble with idatalink maestro. keeps the interface with the truck.

also, may lose soem usb functions with aftermarket radio but can use the acc-usb-ram usb port adapter to get those working again.

Only headache is trying to get the USB ports back to the flip up center console. The ram port in there is actually a hub that won’t work with the KENWOOD, so I will probably run usb extenders up there and fabricate a plate to fix the hub hole at some point.

Do some searching, I know a few members here have solved that issue. I seem to recall one of the aftermarket companies making a solution for it.

I haven’t come across a viable solution. Idatalink makes URAM which replaces the usb hub circuit board but it doesn’t fit the 2018 usb hub. Even if it did, many people have trouble getting carplay to work with it.

I believe this adapter will get you to reinstall the usb cable in the dash to go into your usb cable of your headunit. There's a video on youtube where a guy uses one and seems to do the trick. Instead of spending $20 and a pain in the ass trying to change out the console one, this seems like a much better solution.

I’ve seen that video. Didn’t work on my 2018. The KENWOOD displays USB hub unsupported when connected to the factory USB port.

If I'm correct, it won't work in a 2018. I think the console hub is different from previous years. I guess I should've said that in my previous post.

Still torn on this. Was reading the upgrade thread on the DIY for the 2018 8.4's and seems like going from a 5.0 to a 2018 8.4 UAS or UAQ has way more issues than going to a 2017 or lower 8.4.... If I just went with an RA4, bought the oem camera kit, and didn't change the climate controls seems like the easiest of all options. But then I'd be stuck with factory navigation (possible updating issues)

I don't really care about the climate controls. I think the upgraded ones look a bit nicer visually but also don't mind the infotainment bezel with my current 7 speed fan and dials. With the UAQ/UAS do you have to go to the new climate controls or could you still plug and play with 7 speed fan with a new bezel like you can with RA4 to keep it simple?

I was leaning aftermarket, but I put my phone which has a 6.2 screen over my 5.0 to see what it looks like, and it still looks small. So a 6.75-7 inch will likely still look small to me as its not much bigger than a 6.2.
