Hunter from SC. I've had the truck for a month and I throw game on the tailgate to take out of woods... obviously i wash down when finished, but these blood streaks emanating from the ram emblem on the tailgate kept coming back... well here is why, there is a water pocket there... gross!!!! hog and deer blood have collected and been warming up and cooling down daily for weeks now. disgusting. the smell was putrid. anyway, ram, please make your gaudy decals either porous or waterproof.

That is not a RAM problem. Blood pH levels in most mammals is considered acidic and will damage most finishes if left undiluted for any length of time. No manufacturer is going to design around that contingency

@hootbro i trust your experience more than my logic, but it would seem to me the ram emblem would also be susceptible to dirty water and leave marks then too.

For the most part, dust and dirt is benign and will flush away with water. Blood left to sit will either stain, etch or strip to base metal.

In a perfect world, it could be designed better but I am sure a pool of blood seeping through was not even a consideration.

Maybe its just me but none of those pics work.

They were there earlier today. I cannot remember exactly but he had either a deer or a hog carcass laying dead on his tailgate out in the woods somewhere.

I saw the pictures earlier, now they are not showing up.

Anyway,

What about taking the access panel off and running a small bead of silicone sealant around the perimeter and screw holes?

It doesn't fix the crappy design, but it'll seal out the blood from entering again.
