I did a tune up myself this weekend on the 6.4 pretty easy to do! One thing I noticed is the plugs on the cylinders that shut down were a lot dirtier than the plugs that don't shut off with mds

107k on the dash and I bought it with 89k last year so I don't know but the Chrysler dealer said they have no records of them being changed. So my guessing is origional they were in there tight

As far as I know those aren’t the factory plugs. FCA doesn’t use Bosch plugs.

I got my new plugs from the Chrysler dealer and they are Bosch also. That's what they use. Atleast in these 6.4s

Interesting that’s a first. I haven’t done a tune up on a 6.4 yet though. Everything else FCA either used Ngk or champion back in the day.

Good info...thanks. can you provide any other details as far as what had to be moved/removed to change them out? Any that were more difficult to remove, etc?

I appreciate the info especially on the mds cylinder plugs. This is why I routinely, at least a few days per week run my truck in manual mode so all 8 holes stay lot. I don' care for that flip flopping back and forth.

Does anyone know if mds is disabled when tow/haul mode is activated?

Only had to take off the 6.4 plastic cover and all the coils, pretty easy job! Rear passenger side was a little
Tight, nothing a swivel can't fix. None were extremely hard to get out. I did buy a diablo tuner shortly after and installed the 87 octane tune and shut mds off. Whole different truck! Its so much more fun to drive and smoother on the open road no more jumping around or weird vibration

That's excellent! Glad to hear that. I'm sure I'll have to do mine someday and its good to know they are not that hard to change out

Lol that's not surprising! For some reason Ford is a lot harder to work on than GM and Dodge. Fix Or Repair Daily so you'd think they'd make em easy to work on at least! LOL!:superhack:
