Is the speed sensor connected to the four wheels or just one sensor in the trans? If it’s unplugged for a while will the dealer see that on the computer?

There are wheelspeed sensors on each wheel, and on the transmission.

The sensors on the wheels are for the ABS, ESC and BTC. The sensor in the transmission is for speedometer, cruise control, etc.

I could be mistaken about the transmission sensor though, things have changed since the last time I did any mechanical work on transmissions.

Disconnecting any of them would make the computer go ******* and turn on the check engine light.

im Not sure about any sensor for the tranny but the abs wheel sensors provide the data for the speedometer and associated thing like cruise control. That’s the reason no tuner is needed on a Ram for gear swaps.

There are 2 speed sensors on the transmission, input and output speed. They’re used for transmission operation, not cruise control or anything like that.

If you do a gear swap you should get the system updated to the correct gear ratio because it still can effect shifting of the transmission as well as speedometer operation.

All above is correct. In addition, you can’t unplug the speedometer in the new trucks, it gets it’s information from the ABS module and you can’t disconnect that.
