Dodge Scraping The Barrel With Brass Monkey Durango Hellcat
Story by Evan Williams•2 min read
Dodge has just launched another new special edition of its Durango SUV. The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey is Dodge's third special edition of that SUV this year, and like the others, it's not much more than some slight appearance changes.
2025 Dodge Durango
Base MSRP $41,995
Base Trim Engine 3.6L Pentastar V6 ICE
Base Trim Horsepower 295 HP @6400 RPM
Base Trim Torque 260 lb.-ft. @ 4000 RPM
Base Trim Fuel Economy (city/highway/combined) 19/26/21 MPG
The Detroit automaker says it's celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Hemi-powered Durango SUV with this string of special edition models. Maybe it's saving the best stuff for next year, when the Durango is old enough to drink without heading across the border to Windsor, Ontario.
Changes So Slight You May Have Already Bought Something Similar
2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey (2)A Red Oxide paint job, which looks black with a hint of very deep red in the right light, is the highlight of the Brass Monkey special edition. The 710-horsepower 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 is unchanged, but there are more exterior detailing differences like Brass Monkey-colored badges and dark bronze 20-inch wheels.
Add in the Sepia leather SRT sports seats that are unique to the Brass Monkey edition, and you have a package that's pretty much the same as the Silver Bullet and Hammerhead special editions revealed earlier this year. The differences lie in the colors, with the former offering triple nickel paint and Ebony Red leather seats and the latter deep blue paint and Hammerhead Grey leather.
Like those other models, there are SRT logos on the seatbacks and a steering wheel that matches the seats. It gets the same satin black hood and has black-painted calipers for its Brembo brake system.
Still The Same Beast Underneath
The Durango Hellcat's basics are unchanged. It gets a 710-horse Hellcat V8 and an eight-speed automatic that lets it run 0-60 in 3.5 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 11.5. It can still tow up to 8,700 pounds, and it still has seating for seven.Buy a 710-horsepower Durango V8 while you still have the chance.
Dodge has set up a special website for buyers who want to find any of the 2025 special edition units on the lot at its dealers. Orders are now open for all of the 2025 models as well, if you'd prefer to go that route. The 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Brass Monkey starts from $113,720 plus destination. That's a $6,000 hike over the Premium package Durango Hellcat on which it's based.
