On my passenger side is my jack. I pop the front of the plastic thingy and slide it forward. Simple.

this one is on the driver's side. I want to raise the seat but I have to get this thing off first. I'm sure that I can break if off but I would rather not go to that extreme

I understand it's on the driver side.
Grab the left end and gently pull it. It shouldn't take much energy. Once it pops out, slide the plastic thingy to the left.
