Does the airbag have an on/off switch?

Hi there~~ just a girl here so you'll have to forgive my lack of correct technical terminology and stuff ~~

I've been borrowing a 2002 Ram 1500 from my friend. It's been a really good vehicle and I'm kind of bummin that I have to return it. Anyone know of one I can get for $500 in Maine???

Anyhow, my friend just called and said that she couldn't get it inspected because the airbag light was on. It wasn't on when I had it (not that that matters...). There is a little hole on the dashboard that says 'airbag' and she thinks there is a key of somekind to use to turn it on and off. I never had anything to do with that, and *I* never had a key for it.

Soooooo.....my question is: was there ever a key for turning it on and off? If not, how 'do' you turn it off? Did something happen ~ like does the airbag wear out or something that would cause the light to go on?

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me. I really would like to help her out with this and I 'know' that I can always trust a 'forum' to have the real life information and help!!

I think this is page 51 in 2004 owners manual. Turn Passenger Airbag On/Off switch is for Reg Cabs.

--
To Shut Off the Passenger Airbag (Standard Cab Vehicles Only)

Place the ignition key in the Passenger Airbag On/Off
Switch, push the key in and turn clockwise, and remove
the key from the switch. This will shut off the passenger
side airbag. The “Off” light near the switch will illumi-
nate when the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position.

To Turn On the Passenger Airbag (Standard Cab Vehicles Only)
Place the ignition key in the Passenger Airbag On/Off
Switch, push the key in and turn counterclockwise, and
remove the key from the switch. This will turn on the
passenger airbag. The “Off” light near the switch will be
off when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position.

WARNING!
Whenever an airbag is turned off, even a lap/
shoulder belted passenger may hit their head, neck,
or chest on the dashboard (instrument panel) or
windshield in a crash. This may result in serious
injury or death.
