Hey,
RAM 1500 2018 Express. Key fob has new battery and does LOCK all doors when I get out of the vehicle but will not UNLOCK doors when I try and get back in. It makes an unlock sound on all doors like its trying to open them but the button doesn't pop up and actually unlock the doors. I have to use a physical key to open it. I reset the battery , changed fob battery to no avail. My lock settings are to open and lock ALL doors . Before I buy a new fob I was wondering could they just be stuck because they're cold. My current fob is six months old. Thanks in advance !

Might sound stupid, but set it to unlock just the drivers door to see if the works. How it the trucks battery? The fob sounds like it is sending the signal to unlock, the truck is not doing it. If they all just click, I would start with the truck battery.

When I (recently) purchased my 2015 Ram 1500 SSV….the R. side doors did exactly the same thing.

A shot of aerosol silicone-spray down into the mechanisms….. Solved the problem. 4 mos later….still workin’ fine. (There’s an electric-coild solenoid-type actuator which probably needs lube.)

(WD40 would likely also work)

If the door lock actuators are making a noise, the RF Hub is successfully receiving the signal from the FOB. How old is the starting battery?
If you live in a hot area, batteries may only survive a couple of years.

Try charging the battery as a test, see if that has any impact on the failure to unlock.
I don't believe that all 4 doors have suddenly seized up at the same time.

If charging the starting battery results in successful door unlocking, get an $18 toaster-style battery load tester and test the CCA of the battery.

When I inspected the actuators they appeared “sticky” with dried lube & dirt. I feel like the WD40 would be a good cleaner/lube….similar action to the silicone that I prefer.

Generously-Sprayed down the plunger into the inner mechanism. This solved the problem.Later, for good measure… popped the inner-door panel and cleaned/lubricated the solenoid and all latching mechanisms. I also lubricated the main-latch where it grabs the “loop” in the door-sill.

CRISIS AVERTED.. I bought TWO fobs last year. The current Fob caused the issue. Must have been a malfunction inside the fob with the chip . The second Fob worked fine and all doors now lock and unlock. Thanks for all your help and great advice. I did lube the doors just in case. Thanks again !

That's interesting.

So, you heard a noise on each door when requesting an unlock with the defective FOB, but no successful unlocking action?

Yes. All four locks sounded like they were making an 'effort ' to open but stayed locked. Very strange that a fob would cause it. The spare fob works as normal. Thanks
