DPF Full Message

Hi All,

I have a 2009 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins with DPF Full message popped up today. I am looking for some advice. I inherited this truck and has a little over 104k miles. I have read that running it at highway speed for somewhere between 10 - 45 minutes will regenerate the DPF. Is that true, or am I looking at a repair?

If the regen will work (hopefully), I have to drive about 30 minutes to and from work. Would that be enough time, or will I need to take the long way home?

If your getting the DFP full see if you have someone close by with Alfa Obd who can start a forced regen or you may get lucky if you were to use a bottle may be even two of Archoil 6400d system cleaner in tank of diesel ( about $25 at amazon) {if one using bottle then 1/2 tank} ( try to stay away from diesel that has 20% bio mixed in, btw B-5 will be okay but straight diesel is best) and hook to 3K or heaver loaded trailer then drive it non stop at hwy speeds for an hour or two an hope it starts to clean out the DPF if not then its $$$ to replace the DPF or put it on a weight loss program. I would also bet the EGR needs to be cleaned too...

I will talk to a few people about it. I recently replaced the EGR valve so that shouldn't be an issue. Would O2 sensor contribute to it?

Nope. O2 sensor has nothing to do with what's going on. It's exactly as it said... your DPF is full and needs to be cleaned out. You're going to need to work the engine HARD and get it hot enough to hope it regens. I'd suggest trying @06 Dodge method first. If you can't force it into a regen, you're going to need to replace the DPF or lose some weight. You'll wind up in limp mode if not addressed soon enough.
