Recently got the message that regen was required 80%. I was planning to take it on the freeway the next day, but while driving around town it went into regen. It dropped down to 70%, but I had a business meeting that I was going to and had to shut it off. I assume that stopped the regen process. Everything seemed fine for a few days (I office at home, so I don't drive a lot these days).

After a few days and only a couple of short runs to the bank, I got the same message again. I drove it on the freeway at varying speeds from 55 - 105 for approximately 2 hours and finally received DPF full - power reduced - see dealer.

Dealer wanted to replace DPF for $3,100., and said they can't be cleaned. I did some checking on line and made some calls while sitting at the dealer. I discovered that my superchips flashpaq has a forced regen option called "desoot". I engaged this option and drove for an hour and had the dealer reset the power reduced-see dealer code. I drove it a bit over the next couple of days and then today while on the freeway it threw a code again and said DPF 80% full. I couldn't get the truck to initiate a regen. When it went to 90% I pulled off and programmed the superchips flashpaq to "desoot" again, dropped down to 4th gear to get the RPM's up and ran it for 45 mins. At 40 mins the DPF went to full and reduced power mode - see dealer again. I took it to a shop that pulls the DPF, blows it out, then will cook it in the oven over night to clean it up. We'll see how that goes.

By the way, I've been using the superchips programmer for a few years now, usually on extreme setting, but have never had this issue. Since it started acting up I put everything back to stock settings and left it that way.

The repeat codes that I seem to receive on my truck are as follows:

P242B - exhaust gas temp sensor circuit performance, bank 1 sensor 3.

I've also had some others referencing exhaust gas temp too low, or something to that effect, but I am unable to locate my code sheet. The P242B is the prominent one over the last several months.

Can anyone weigh in on the following?

1) What are possible causes that would prevent my truck from going into regen mode?

2) Has anyone else had similar issues that they think may be correlated with a superchips or any other programmer?

I'm hoping that this cleaning will fix things, but I'm afraid that I'm treating symptoms rather than the root cause. Any help would be appreciated. The dealer is a parts changer and doesn't seem to care about solving the big picture. I don't get the impression that they really "think", they will treat symptoms all day and they either just want the added cash that comes with avoiding the problem, or their personnel aren't solutions guys, but are just parts changers. I miss my 5.9!
