Drop step / Running board Gallery

Kind of in the market of shopping around for either some running boards or drop steps. Eventually (hopefully in the near future) I’ll be getting new wheels and tires and a small lift/level...like 3”. So far I’ve been eyeing either the Westin HDX or Westin HDX Extremes.

Just wanted one place where people can show off what they have and use to get a broader idea of what the many designs look like on a Ram. Figured this might help others too, who may be shopping and see what they look like installed.

Here are my Westins. Nine months old and had some surface rust on them. So I had them sprayed with bed liner. The other thing about them is they collect snow/ice and frozen mud inside the step pockets so I will be running front mud flaps this winter.

IMO once you decide on a design, buy the cheapest ones you can find, because they all rust.

My 4" Westins worked perfect, and still are, no rust on my 2015.

Had OEM Ram side steps installed from the dealer they are called wheel to wheel. They cover the front part of the bed to step on and remove stuff from it. cost 600 bucks. They are 5inch oval polished aluminum.Also I have the 6.4 bed on my Ram

Grab some AMP steps and keep your ground clearance while having a step that sits lower for use entering your vehicle. Plus they look pretty trick going up and down when the door opens and closes!

I went nfab because they didn't take away too much from clearance compared to boards and were only $300 vs $1,400 for AMP. Bonus, the install was super easy.

I have the Iron Cross sidearms. They’re okay. Looking to get some wheel to wheel steps. Not concerned with look anymore, just want accessibility to the bed.

@revitupmoto33 custom Rock sliders. They work as steps, they can hold the weight of the truck if you put the side over a boulder and they'll glide over those, plus the sound of the Honda Accord doors for example when their owners swing their doors wide open agains them is just music from heaven

Just ordered AMP Research steps. My buddy installed them on his 2500 a few months ago. So slick. We replaced the stock LED’s with a full LED strip. Came out beautifully. I’ll try to post a build thread when we do mine.

If you like electric drop steps the amp research are good quality. I installed a set for a friend 5 years ago and have serviced them since.Advice! If the gear boxes have snap on plastic covers silicone around the edges to keep debris out especially the passenger side which faces forward.Also use anti-seize on the bolts.The hardware is stainless but get stuck in the clips and aluminum. Good Luck
