Ds 91 tune safe for towing with 6.4?

I've tried searching the forums but haven't found much. I have a 2014 2500 with 6.4 and have a DiabloSport with canned tunes on it. Just want to make sure it's going to be safe to haul my 32.5 foot fifth wheel with it? If not ill call up hemi fever quick LOL.

My opinion would be no. With the advanced timing and extra heat from towing it sounds like a bad combo to me.

I would spend the extra bit of money for a tow tune from either Sean (Hemifever) or Jay (Greene Racing). The canned DS tunes are fairly meh and I wouldn't trust them for towing heavy. The custom tunes will take into account your uses and you can even datalog while towing once the initial tuning empty has been completed to be 100% sure your truck is dialed in for your particular setup.

Easy no guessing way to tell is load it as you would for a camping trip and run it.

If you get no pinging/detonation your probably ok. Be sure to pull some grades and get it hot. Then you'll know. If it starts pinging, back off and head home and have a proper towing tune instslled. Keep an eye on engine and trans temps.

Or as said get a proper towing tune up front and be done. I'm cheap so I'd load and run it first to test it but that's me. If you have a high octane tune, make sure your running the proper fuel obviously...

The last time I dealt with a chip in a truck was nearly 20 years ago so take this with that in mind. Back then the big fear was overheating your exhaust. With towing I'd have to think that would be magnified. Do you have a thermometer to monitor your exhaust temps? (is that even still a thing people do?).

I think it were me I might give it a try as long as I had a way to monitor things to be sure I wasn't hurting the truck. Also, can you just switch back from the tune to stock while out on the road if it turns out you're overheating something? Or, can you take a few test runs close to home so you're not dealing this when far from home?

If I could monitor temps and bail on the tune if needed I'd probably try it. If not, I might look into a tow-specific tune.

I talked to Sean at hemifever and got a custom tune. He said his tunes are all safe for towing. And holy crap are they better than the canned ds tunes.

Deff the way to go
