I didnt see any helpful stuff on the web detailing the fitment of dual H8 batteries instead of the stock H7 batteries.

The drivers side is easy, just pop the little plastic bracket on the bottom of the battery tray out, and the H8 fits.

The passenger side battery tray measured a little over 14 inches long on the bottom, but only 13 inches long at the top of the tray, so I used a dremel and trimmed the firewall side of the tray, making sure to leave a lip at the bottom to keep the battery from being able to slide rearward. There was one wire loom attached to that side of the tray so I removed the plastic push pin.

Installing the bigger battery on the passenger side was helped by removing the hood prop on that side which gives a bit more room to slide it into the tray since the battery terminals and cables are very stiff and crowd the area. Please remember to support your hood before unfastening the prop.

The last two pics are to show that you still have access to the battery hold-down bracket threads on both batteries so you can use the factory hold downs. Both hold downs were 10mm, drivers side batt terminals were 10mm, pass side batt terminals were 8mm.

These pics show both batteries fit in place.

Hope this helps anyone considering it.

What are the advantages of an H8 battery over an H7?

ODYSSEY Performance Series battery Model 49-950 with SAE posts

Designed to handle the increased use of onboard accessories in today's vehicles, ODYSSEY Performance Series batteries combine long service life, high reliability and deep cycle capabilities. The ODYSSEY Performance series batteries provide all the reliability of the ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries but without the high cold cranking amps (CCA) or reserve capacity (RC) that many people may not require.

Really? So we can't ask a question on the forum anymore. Because the OP already had 2 batteries. Maybe you should use your brain, if you had one.
Isn't that what this forum is for? To find out information perhaps.
Sorry if we don't all know everything like you do. :flipthebird:

Do you really need someone to explain why higher reserve capacity or more cranking amps could be beneficial?? Use common sense or if that fails you try Google.

Did you even read the blurb you copied and pasted? The batteries used here have higher ratings than the stock h7 batteries i took out.

The piece you copied and pasted has nothing to do with comparing the h8 oddyssey to the h7 stock battery.....it compares oddyssey performance series to oddyssey extreme series. Wake up!!

If they fit, i'd sure use the H8 AGM batteries to replace my 2011.5 CC 3500 H7's when it's time.......and it's time has come!!

Would like to do this in a 5.7 1500. Would have to replace the stock air intake and filter. Anyone done this?
